Mazpen preparatory program

A Personal and Meaningful Preparation Model for Life After School

What is the essence of the program?

This is a model for establishing a preparatory program and developing transition programs within the school framework.

The Mazpen (compass, in Hebrew) preparatory program is a unique program for individuals aged 18-21 with autism who are in the education system, and wish to realize their eligibility for special education services. It was developed to provide them with an inner compass as they engage in their learning and examination processes and in choosing what suits them, while referring to the 'north star' out there: Society, the community, the miliary establishment, national service, the job market and more. The program serves as a foundation for other programs intended for youth on the verge of completing their time in the education system and progressing to the next stage in their lives. The booklet presents the activities, the thought that went into them, the weighing of possibilities and the partnerships needed between each youth and the team in utilizing their inner compass.

The model was developed in a knowledge extraction and inquiry process in partnership with the team of Naveh preparatory program.
