Training Professionals to Support Families of Adults with Disabilities
This program is an innovative model for training special education teachers, developed through a partnership between Alumot Or and Kibbutzim College of Education. It focuses on developing expertise in preparing students who are not on a matriculation track for autonomous and meaningful adult lives.
This unique, one-year academic retraining program is designed for college graduates seeking to enter the field of special education, with a specialization in adolescence and transition-to-adulthood programming.
The program aims to generate dual impact: by training a new generation of outstanding teachers equipped with Alumot Or’s unique pedagogical approach, and by driving systemic change in special education schools throughout Israel.
The program’s rationale is rooted in the acute shortage of qualified special education teachers- particularly those who can effectively prepare students for real life beyond the traditional classroom setting.
Alumot Or’s pedagogical model, developed over years of work in its 15 educational centers, offers practical tools and guidance for teachers seeking to empower students with disabilities to lead independent, meaningful lives.
