What is the essence of the program?
The Mommy and Daddy program is an extraordinary collaboration between Alumot Or and the Special Education Division at the Ministry of Education's Northern District. It is intended to broaden the participation and involvement in the education system of the parents of students with disabilities.
What does it include?
- Establishing 17 parent centers within 19 support centers.
- A variety of activities for parents: Support groups, empowerment workshops, emotional therapy, and more.
- Weekly professional lectures for parents and professionals.
Why is this important?
The program responds to the need to increase the parents' involvement in the education system. It enables:
- Supporting the parents and providing them with useful tools.
- Enriching the knowledge of the parents and the professionals in a variety of specific areas.
Who is the program intended for?
The program is intended for the parents of students with disabilities, and for professionals providing services to these students.
What will we learn in the program?
The program offers a range of activities and lectures in diverse areas, such as selective muteness, medicinal treatment, the rights of persons with disabilities, siblingship, sexuality, and more.
What is special about the program?
This year and in the coming years, the program will be delivered to continue reinforcing the partnership between the parents and the educational teams, to locate and map areas for strengthening this partnership, to create groups which are uniform in their composition, and to enrich the parents' toolbox.
